Welcome to classicgam.ing

Hello everyone; welcome in! I'll do my best to help keep you all informed about the latest things in the world of retrogaming, retro speedrunning, FPGA gaming, and anything else that seems tangentially related.

For those of you familiar with my previous blog, you likely know that I hadn't posted in a while; it's been a busy year. If you're not, don't worry about that; as 2024 finishes and 2025 begins, I've decided that my unique voice needs to be heard, and that I should start posting interesting things again.

This is as good a place as any to talk about who I am, so you know who this is coming from. My name is Allen Tipper, also known as akerasi in many online spaces. I've been a lot of places and done a lot of things over the years, but my main interests are retrogaming, especially shmups, science fiction, especially literary, and infrastructure automation. I also dabble in programming, hence my project to bring native randomizers to the MiSTerFPGA, https://github.com/TapToRandomize/TapToRandomize .

I occasionally stream on Twitch, at https://twitch.com/akerasi/ . I used to stream a lot more in the day I was grinding improvements to the Bangai-O (Dreamcast) World Record (which I still hold, if only due to lack of competition), but still get out the stream occasionally. I'm also very commonly seen in Twitch chats, of anyone whose stream interests me. Lots of speedrunners, and shmup streamers, but really I might be anywhere.

As for that science fiction interest, I'm also very into helping run science fiction conventions; my main focus on that right now is CONvergence , a science fiction convention in Minneapolis, Minnesota over the July 4th weekend every year, where I'm the Director of Hospitality.

If you want to know more, feel free to ask... or just wait for me to post about it. I do hope you have a great day!
